Desirable

A city named most desirable to inhabit. Despite the brisk cold exacerbated by the never tiring wind, the warmth of this town try invites you to enjoy it’s people friendly atmosphere. Goodness, we’re in the middle of the city but it seems as though it is more designed with humans in mind than cars or businesses. It is a city that seems to say, come enjoy your time with us. Walk. Ride. Hang out. Eat. Eat. Eat. I’m more used to the type of city that beckons, come and spend your money here, oh yeah and you gotta take the tours cause there is no other way to get around. Buy. Buy. Buy.
Four bridges within easy walking distance are all friendly to pedestrians. Three of them are pedestrian and cycles only. One bridge is a story. Truly. The walkways along the river are nearly endless. The sound of the river. The varied song of birds. Children. Moms with babies. Joggers. Cyclists. And really only occasionally do you end up listening to vehicles.
The outdoor queen Street mall is a true local hangout. I haven’t been there once when it wasn’t crowded with people spending time together. Even in the cold evenings, people are hanging out in various cliques and clumps.
Walks through vegetation wrapped pathways. A ride along the bendy river. People watching in the open mall. Museum after museum, tucked together near an inviting performing arts center that hosts a festival for children under 8. Artists. Dancers. A gong garden. A monster house of non-scary creatures meant to be decorative and filled with the children’s own work.
Enticing. Engaging. Enlivened. Enviable.
Desirable.
